How can I make forsythia last longer?
Cut the branches longer than you need and bring them inside. Fill a vase with warm water, and trim the branches to size. Before arranging them in the vase, make some small cuts up the ends or give the base of each branch a little smush with a hammer. Place the vase in indirect sunlight.
Do I need to fertilize my forsythia?
You should also fertilize when caring for forsythia. Use a balanced fertilizer once every two to three months in the spring and summer. Do not fertilize them in the fall and winter. Good care of forsythia also requires that forsythia bushes be pruned yearly.
Do you put cut forsythia in water?
Just cut a few branches at least a foot long that have plenty of fat flower buds on them. Soak the branches overnight in tepid water in the bathtub keeping the whole branch submerged.
