Succulents that tend to grow in clumps, like Sansevieria and many species of cacti, you can simply tear the clumps apart with your hands. Rather than separating each plant as an individual you can simply divide the clump into smaller sections.
How deep does the soil need to be for succulents?
When preparing a succulent garden bed, consider the layout and have a plan, but be flexible when you begin planting. Some sources recommend preparing the soil three inches (8 cm.) deep, but others say at least six inches to eight inches (15-20 cm.) down is necessary.
Do succulents like full sun?
Despite widespread belief, most succulents do not thrive if blasted with the hottest temps and the fullest sun exposure. While they appreciate a lot of light (and very few survive in full shade), most succulents need sun protection, especially if the temperature hits the 90-degree-mark, or if they're small.
