How do you heal leaf scorch?
Once leaf scorch has occurred, there is no cure. The dehydrated portions of the leaf will not turn green again, but with proper water management, the plant may recover. Prevention of scorch needs to begin with winter watering.
Why do leaves scorch?
Leaf scorch is a physiological problem that can occur on any kind of plant. It can be caused by transplanting, soil compaction, nearby excavation, a nutrient deficiency, chemical injury, unfavorable weather conditions (such as drought), poor soil, or limited room for root growth.
Will a scorched tree recover?
Many trees can recover after fire, depending on the intensity and duration of the burn and extent of dehydration. After a fire it is important to determine which trees might recuperate and which will need to be removed. Other less direct impacts include soil dessication or water-repellant (hydrophobic) soils.
